Chickahominy Lake Expedition Fishing Report |
Posted on 05/17/2015 |
"The Virginia Anglers Club’s small but very enthusiastic expedition to Chickahominy Lake set out from Ed Allen’s Boats and Bait at 9 AM on Saturday (5/9/2015). Water temperatures were in the mid to high 70’s in the main lake and the lake level was a few inches above the top of the dam. The water was light to moderately brown and very slightly turbid in the lower lake, which is typical for this time of year. The weather was cloudy and overcast when we set out, but cleared within an hour and we had a beautiful day with relatively light winds. Bluegills were in loose clusters on the banks, interspersed with a scattering of other species, all of which hit a variety of small jigs on light spinning gear.
Karen Anderson, Maggie Billingslea, and I released 31 bluegill, 1 shellcracker, 3 crappie, 4 yellow perch, and 1 bass by 1 PM when we stopped for the day." Captain Art Conway
