The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is holding an informal information session starting at 6:00 PM the evening of May 28th at the Charles City office located at 3801 John Tyler Memorial Highway, Charles City, VA.
"Blue catfish have for many years provided a world class trophy fishery, that fishery is in decline, and will likely continue to decline to some unknown point. After four decades this population has past the post-introduction boom of rapid expansion and very fast individual growth rates. It has now entered a period of decline towards an as yet unknown equilibrium state. Individual growth rates have declined significantly, and continue to decline, and we recently documented dramatic declines in abundance. So, times are changing, and are likely to continue to change in the foreseeable future." Bob Greenlee, VDGIF Eastern Regional Aquatic Resources Manager
